Volunteer Opportunities

If you are looking for ways to network and become a more active CISHRM member there are a lot of opportunities available. You could become a member of one of the many committees or simply volunteer for various one time commitments that come up throughout the year. Below are a few volunteer opportunities that exist throughout the year, please click here to complete the volunteer form. The information will be forwarded to our Volunteer Coordinator and they will contact you with additional information.

Certification Committee

  • Planning/Facilitating study groups

  • Assisting with Professional Development Day

Competency Committee

  • Enhance necessary and purposeful skills, through quarterly workshops, that an HR professional can immediately take back and apply at their organization.

  • Select Competency based training topics and themes and secure speakers, event locations, and sponsors.  Market Events to the HR and Business Communities.

Programs Committee

  • Assist at events, which may involve set up and clean up,  taking pictures, helping with refreshments, verifying equipment for speakers, assuring speaker needs are met, introduction of speaker, networking activities for attendees, closing of the meeting.

  • Serve on the program committee which meets on a monthly basis

  • Research or make contacts with potential speakers

  • Secure venues, including facility and equipment needs

Workforce Readiness Committee

  • Mock Interview Sessions (2-4 hours per session)

  • Classroom Speaking Engagements (30-90 minutes per session)

  • Career Expo Volunteering (volunteers may come from outside the committee)

    • Resume critiquing (1-3 hour sessions)

    • Candidate Registration (2-6 hour sessions)

    • Employer Registration & Assistance (2-4 hour sessions)

  • Career Expo Committee Member Prep

    • Speaker Engagement (5-10 hours annually)

    • Employer Registration (5-10 hours annually; requires on site availability day of event)

    • Facilities/Food & Beverages (3-5 hours annually; requires on site availability day of event)

    • Resume Critiquing: Oversee and Coordinate Volunteers (10 hours annually)

    • Participant Registration (day-of availability)

    • Volunteers: Coordinate Volunteers listed above (5-10 hours annually)

    • Computer Lab: onsite applications (5-10 hours annually)

    • Sponsorships (10-15 hours annually)

Young Professional Engagement and College Relations Committee

VISION: To be recognized as the voice for growth opportunities within the HR community.

MISSION: To support growth within the HR community.

We will support our mission by offering programs that focus on cultivating relationships, promote knowledge sharing and access to resources, and career development opportunities tailored toward those who are new to the field and/or less experienced HR Professionals aspiring to elevate their career. 

Membership Committee

  • Help promote CISHRM at any of the conferences where we have a table or booth including but not limited to: Legislative Conference (February); Civil Rights/Diversity Conference (March); HR One Source Employment Conference (April and possibly October)

  • Assist in bringing materials

  • Setting up table

  • Disseminating materials during conference

  • Communicating information to prospects

  • Member sign-up

  • Assist in sending out emails to lapsed members using assigned template. (monthly)

  • Assist with printing of materials as needed.

  • CISHRM Connection Meet and Mingle Event (August – September timeframe)

  • Assist with gathering, compiling and/or developing materials for CISHRM Connection Meet and Mingle Event.

  • Develop name tags for registrants

  • Copy / print brochures

  • Get prizes

  • Event set-up
