Topic:                 High Stakes Decision Making*

Presenter:          Alan Feirer with Group Dynamic

*Approved for 3.0 PDC HRCI and SHRM

On the most basic level, decisions in the workplace range from low risk to high risk. Throw in various obstacles and lots of stress, and even the low risk decisions can seem daunting. Escalate that by adding time constraints, a desire to reach consensus, and the potential for politics, any decisions can seemingly become impossible.

So what do you do when the pressure is on and the stakes are high?

The solution is to plan and prepare, and this session will give you the skills, tools, and knowledge specifically for those situations. When you’re well-prepared, the high stress, high risk decisions won’t seem like no-win impossibilities. They’ll still be difficult, of course, but you’ll go into the process with clarity and a practiced plan that will ease stress and create a more decision-making friendly environment.

In this session, you will learn by doing. You will explore proven techniques that are inclusive, easy to use, and can be accomplished in short periods of time. These techniques will be demonstrated by using current, relevant examples, then you will apply them by participating in a simple case study: The Colfax Zoo.

This program provides quick and sticky ideas to balance the needs of strategic analysis and planning with the importance of participatory decision making in all circumstances.

Every company and team will be faced tough decisions that need to be made within tight time frames, but with practice and strategic planning, you can lead your team with less stress and a clear vision for moving forward.
