Dual Membership FAQs

A journey to growth and opportunities is best done with trusted partners alongside you, all advancing together. In this spirit of partnership, and with the goal of long-term maximization of membership benefits and growth for our members, CI-SHRM is excited to more fully align ourselves with SHRM by implementing the Dual Membership Program.

You are cordially invited to join in on the journey. Connect, collaborate, learn, and grow through access to resources at the national and local level!

We’ve put together these FAQs to answer some of the questions you might have regarding this change. During this transition, we will be reaching out directly to all current members to provide you with additional information regarding your specific renewal scenario. In the meantime, please review this document and feel free to reach out to us at info@ci-shrm.org with any questions.

National SHRM membership is now a requirement of having a CI-SHRM membership, i.e., Dual Membership. If looking to be part of Central Iowa SHRM, you must be a member of both organizations. The good news is our chapter membership cost will be less going forward than it is today.

CI-SHRM annual dues will be $46 (new lower price!). National SHRM dues are currently $264 per year, making the total cost $310 for Dual Membership through both organizations. Discounts are available for 2-year and 3-year memberships.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a global professional society with over 300,000 members.  SHRM is focused on empowering people and workplaces by advancing HR practices and maximizing human potential to build a world of work that works for all. They provide a comprehensive suite of resources, tools, and templates that are utilized on a daily basis to assist their members in delivering exceptional results for their organizations.

Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management (CI-SHRM) is the official SHRM affiliate/local chapter for people living, learning, and working in the Greater Des Moines/Central Iowa area. CI-SHRM provides our members with networking and educational opportunities to get connected at the local level with fellow HR professionals.

  • Simplification. Members can now be part of CI-SHRM and SHRM National for a single price. One invoice, one payment, one renewal date. Members no longer have to keep track of two separate memberships, as they will be combined into one.
  • A streamlined pathway to receive the benefits of a national organization linked with a local perspective and presence resulting in double the expertise.
  • CI-SHRM will now have access to nationally recognized speakers, giving our members high quality education opportunities.
  • Via our alignment with National SHRM, credibility and strength in numbers will increase our effectiveness to represent HR professionals in the Central Iowa SHRM.
  • Direct access to SHRM’s educational programs, services, toolkit and resources so that you can more quickly advance in your career or further your knowledge.
