Description:
This presentation will focus on a three-pillar strategy for employee mental health and well-being that includes. One of the pillars – Education, Training and Preventive Interventions- are provided with the following in mind: 

  • Reducing Mental Health Stigma 
  • Recognizing early signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge 
  • Utilizing the workplace and supervisors as a crucial starting point for trainings 

We will spend time reviewing various evidence-based workplace certification trainings that are endorsed by the likes of OSHA, SAMSHA, and SHRM, with a focus on Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). MHFA equips individuals to identify, 

understand, and respond to mental health challenges. Like CPR, MHFA helps in crisis and non-crisis situations, connecting individuals with professional help. It is likely to foster a safer and more supportive work environment, emphasizing physical and mental well-being and inclusion. We’ll review some of the research behind MHFA and different settings that it can be applied in as well as outcomes.

  • Discuss new research on six mental health supportive supervisor behaviors
